The best 4 years

Well, tomorrow marks March 1st, which means in 82 short days I'll be graduating from college. I feel like the time has completely flown by, and I'm so excited to get into the working world, but I'm also completely terrified. I mean, I've spent the past 16 years in school. What if the working world is nothing like I imagined?

I know everyone says "don't have regrets" and "everything happens for a reason" but looking back, I wish there had been someone to give me some advice. Therefore, I compiled a list of all of the things I wish someone had told me going into my freshman year of college.

1) You don't need to bring everything you own to college. College dorm rooms are TINY. Chances are, you'll be sharing that room which means you'll have even less space. Unpack all of your stuff, pick about half of the stuff, and bring that with you. The ironing board? You'll never use it. The coffee pot? You won't ever use it. I promise.

2) Take advantage of the free stuff you get on campus. I would kill to be able to be that close to a gym, and to not have to pay for it. Go to the dining area all the time, because once you live off campus you're probably not going to like having to go all the way back to campus to get food.

3) It's okay to change friend groups. More than likely you'll change friend groups. You might find that you are your roommate aren't best friends, and that's perfectly okay. You might change friend groups all together, that's what I did, and it was the best decision I've ever made.

4) Don't let what other people's opinion on greek life influence you're decision to rush. My freshman year friends hated on greek life, and made fun of it all the time, so I decided not to rush. I regret that decision to this day. Just because you're friends don't like it doesn't mean you won't like it. If you want to rush, do it. Alternatively, if all of your friends are rushing, that doesn't mean that you have to.

5) Study, because your grades are important. It's very easy to not care about your grades freshman year because you're so busy going out and hanging out with friends. Before you know it your GPA isn't great and it's way harder to bring it up than you'd think. When you get to be a senior and start applying for jobs your GPA can really hurt you, and I guarantee you'll look back and think wow I wish I tried harder my first year

6) Lastly, don't forget to have fun. These will be the best four years of your life, and the last four where you can do whatever you want. Want to spontaneously road trip to the beach? Do it. Want to book a cruise for spring break? Do it. Want to lay at the pool all day and drink beer? Do it. College is the last time you'll be able to do whatever you want, pretty much whenever.

College is the best time of your life, and you don't want to look back and realize you didn't have fun. One last tip, be yourself. It's cliche, I know, but you don't want to look back and realize you were trying to impress people who don't matter.

Do you have any advice you wish you could tell your freshman self? Tell me!

Let it snow

Well, it snowed once again in Salisbury. The past 4 years I've been here it's snowed maybe 3 times, and this year we've already had 2 snow days, what a miracle! It's not actually that fun though, because Salisbury tends to just shut down when it snows, and I'm pretty much stuck in my apartment! So I do what any normal bored girl does... online shop! My cruise is coming up in 16 days (whose counting...) and I keep online shopping for clothes!

Cruising Essentials

I got a really exciting call from my mom today, my grandmother officially booked our summer vacation! This year we're going to... drum roll please. Puerto Rico! We're going on a caribbean cruise from Puerto Rico and then headed back to Miami! I love these vacations because they always fall on my birthday! I've spent my two out of three birthdays in a different country, how cool is that?

This year is really cool, because I'm crazy  lucky and get to go on THREE different cruises! I'm going on a spring break cruise with my roommate and our boyfriends, then my mom and grandma are going on a graduation cruise with me, and then the Puerto Rico cruise! After this summer I'll have been on 6 cruises, one might say I consider it a sport. :) So I decided to make this post about my cruise necessities and where you can find them.

1) Sunglasses
After all, the sun is hotter on cruises! Whether you're laying by the pool or playing put put, sunglasses are a necessity. My favorite are my aviators or wayfarers from Ray-Ban. Buy them here.

2) A pair of fun printed shorts
Cruises are all about fun, so why not pair it with a fun pair of printed shorts. I just got a pair and I. Am. Obsessed. They're from J. Crew and on sale right now for $34.50! Buy them here.

3) A tote bag
One of the best parts of a cruise is the pool on the top floor, after all everyone needs a little sunshine! Having a tote is perfect for holding your towel, sunglasses, book, whatever you like to enjoy by the pool! My favorite is the Vineyard Vines Tote.

4) Jack Rogers
I don't know what I would do without my Jack Rogers, I wear them 5 days of the week in the summer. I'm a huge fan of my classic platinums, but I just got this gorgeous pair and I can't wait to break them in. Unfortunately they aren't available in stores anymore, but make sure to try eBay.

5) Rainbows
The times when you're not dressed up on a cruise is when you're poolside, and rainbows are perfect for that. They're a pain to break in but when you do, they're hands down the most comfortable shoes in the world. The best part? You can dress them up or down. The best place to get them is Nordstrom's.

6) A good book
This is vastly overrated when people go on vacations! They're so excited to hang out at the pool, that they forget what they're going to do while relaxing at the beach! My current read is Hollow City! Go to your local Barnes & Nobles and pick up the book you've been eyeing, it's okay to indulge!

February Q&A

If you're reading this, chances are you follow me on Instagram. So, before I say anything else, I just wanted to say thank you. I started my Instagram in December because I love fashion and style, and never did I imagine that it would grow to what it has become, and I have a feeling it's only getting started. I wouldn't be able to do it without you guys, and the support from all of my followers just makes me love what I do.

I've decided that once a month, at the end of the month I'm going to do a Q&A, to talk about what I love and what you guys want to know! So here are some of the questions I got for my first post.

QWhat are your fashion essentials?
A: If you couldn't tell by my about me, I love J. Crew. You know what, love isn't good enough of a word. I adore J. crew. In the summer I live in their chinos, in the winter I live in their merino sweaters, and year round I live in their necklaces. Seriously, I have 10! I just can't seem to say no to a pretty necklace.

Q:  Where do you get the best deals?
A: Not to talk about J. Crew too much... but they also seem to have great deals going on! You get 15% off with a student I.D, and their factory website seems to always have 30 to 40 percent off! If you see something you absolutely love, just wait a week or two, and chances are it'll be on sale! Another place I LOVE is Poshmark! If you guys don't know what that is, its an app where you can buy and sell your old clothes. I've found great deals! Just the other day I got a pair of J. Crew chinos for $10! Just to make the deal sweeter, if you use code "BEYCW" you'll get $5 for free!

Q: Who Inspires your fashion sense?
A: I definitely have a few favorites on Instagram, for when I need a fashion inspiration. Sometimes, when I'm bored I'll go through Instagram and screenshot outfits I want to try out. Just keep that a secret between you and me ;) My current favorite Instagram-er is Alyson Haley. (Instagram: @alyson_haley)

Q: Who was the inspiration behind your blog?
A: It's funny, the person who inspired me to start my blog was the person who actually asked this question! I frequently read Mikayla's blog and I finally decided to start my own! So if you need someone to use as inspiration definitely check her out. (Instagram: @aseersuckerstateofmind)

Well that's it guys! Thanks so much for everything you guys do, and I truly hope you enjoyed this post, and will come back for more from my day to day life.
